Episode 279: AMA – How Much to Charge for Transcreation – Pricing for Transcreation Services
08/09/2021Episode 281: AMA – How to Market Your Services on Social Media and Find the Right Contacts
09/06/2021Every once in a while, I ask for your questions and answer them in the episodes. This is the fifth episode in a series of six shorter episodes where I answer your questions. In this episode, I answer a question about how to invoice customers abroad and in different currencies.
The methods and strategies vary. I know translators that only charge in their local currency and demand to be paid in their local currency. This is a great way to protect yourself from currency fluctuations. However, if you want to be more flexible and accommodating toward your clients, there are several different options. I will base my answers on my own experience.

Whichever method you choose to receive payments from abroad, find out what fees you will incur, including hidden fees created by currency exchange. We will inevitably have to take some costs and currency exchange losses into account, but the more you know about the different options, the smaller the amounts are.
