Episode 248: Rerun – How to Use Information Products to Add Client Value on Website

This is the first part in a series of reruns this summer of episodes with tons of value that you might have missed.

In this episode, we discuss a topic close to my heart, websites for translators, but here we are focusing on how we can provide more value to our target clients with our websites and information products for target clients. I am interviewing Karen Rueckert, who specializes in German to English translations for lawyers and law firms and who have successfully revamped her website to make it more targeted and valuable for her target clients.

In this episode we cover the following:

  • How we can provide more value to our clients on our websites
  • What questions to answer to make sure our website is targeted and valuable
  • How we can build more trust with potential clients that don’t know much about our services
  • Using information products to create more value

Bio:

Karen Rueckert

Karen is a British legal translator based in Germany. She translates commercial law documents from German into English mainly for German lawyers and law firms and some small and medium-sized enterprises (www.legal-translations-rueckert.com). Before becoming a freelance translator in 2007 Karen worked as an in-house legal translator for a large German commercial law firm. She has an MA in Legal Translation from City University, London, and is a publicly appointed and sworn translator for the English language for Baden-Württemberg. Karen has a keen interest in the native speaker principle (only translating into one’s mother tongue), particularly in the context of legal translation, and devoted her MA dissertation to and has published an article on this subject. Karen is also involved in the BDÜ (German Translator Association) mentoring program. This mentoring activity led to her setting up her own Translator Mentoring Blog (www.karenrueckert.wordpress.com) which has become very popular since it was launched in October 2013. Karen lives near Stuttgart in the south of Germany with her husband and two bilingual daughters, Leanne 8 and Erin 6.
