To sum things up, never set your rates in a vacuum -use actual data, not assumptions. The simplest solution is to make sure you’re charging enough to cover all your expenses and more!
Remember that your pricing is an important marketing tool. Good clients understand that they get what they pay for. That is also why they are often turned off by a low price. There are clients out there willing to pay for high-quality translation services, you just need to continue to market your services to find them.
