Episode 33: How to make your translation business stand out – Interview with Andrew Morris

Learn how to make your translation business stand outOne of the harder things when marketing our translation services is to stand out among other freelance translators offering the same services. In this episode I am interviewing Andrew Morris, with a very popular Facebook page, upcoming book, and webinar on this subject. His philosophy for standing out is not like anything else you have heard in marketing and well worth listening to.

In this episode we discuss the following:

  • The three A’s for standing out with your translation services – autonomy, authenticity, attitude
  • How much of standing out is based on skills and how much is based on method, marketing and attitude
  • Best way to brand and showcase our contribution in the translation business
  • Balancing standing out philosophy with practical marketing
  • Marketing with newsletters

Thank you for listening and sharing! I could have talked much more with Andrew Morris about standing out as  a freelance translator, but let’s save some for later. If you have any questions for Andrew or me on standing out, please share them in the comments below. If you do not want to miss an episode, make sure you subscribe to them in iTunes or Stitcher. See you in the next episode and keep on sharing!

31OLk-Lq_400x400Andrew Morris has been a freelance translator since 2009, working from French into English and specialising in the arts, culture and tourism. He runs a small but perfectly formed translation studio by the name of Morristraduction. His previous job experience includes language teaching, teacher training, part-time journalism, working as a waiter in a pizzeria (thankfully only for six months as a student) and playing the piano in a psychiatric hospital. But not in that order. He has worked long-term in ten countries, visited over 50, and learnt more languages than he can now remember. He now lives, writes and translates in Provence in the South of France.
